The film originally slated for a January 15, 2010 release date, the Weinstein Company announced in December of 2009 they had delayed the release of the film for “animation tweaks” and to give the studio time to finalize a “marketing deal with a fast-food chain.” By February, a deal had been work out with Burger King for cross-promotion, but no new release date has been fixed.
In March 2010, the movies’ San Francisco-based movie producer Maurice Kanbar filed a petition in Superior Court to try to force the Weinstein Co. to begin arbitration proceedings to resolve disputes between the two companies over the production and release of film, originally proposed for January of 2010. Later, Box Office Mojo has announced that the film has been rescheduled for release on April 29, 2011.
