Previously known as “The Skin That I Inhabit” (Spanish: La piel que habito), is an upcoming Spanish film directed by Pedro Almodóvar and reunites Almodóvar with longtime collaborators such as composer Alberto Iglesias, DoP Jose Luis Alcaine as well as editor José Salcedo. The film stars Antonio Banderas, Elena Anaya, Marisa Paredes, Jan Cornet, Roberto Alamo, Blanca Suárez, Eduard Fernández, José Luis Gómez, Bárbara Lennie, Susi Sánchez, Fernando Cayo and Teresa Manresa. It was the first collaboration in 21 years between Almodóvar and his former regular cast member Banderas. The film premiered in competition at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival in May 2011, and just confirmed for the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
Based on crime novelist Thierry Jonque’s 2005 book “Tarantula”, THE SKIN I LIVE IN tells the story of a plastic surgeon carrying out a vendetta on the man who raped his daughter. Almodóvar describes the film as “a horror story without screams or frights”.
