An upcoming comedy film from Walt Disney Pictures directed by James Bobin. The script was written by Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller, the writer-director team behind the 2008 film “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”. It is the seventh theatrically released feature film to star The Muppets.
On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.
The first teaser for the film was promoted as a fake romantic comedy starring Amy Adams and Jason Segel entitled “Green with Envy”. While the second teaser introduced us to The Fuzzy Pack, which was a direct parody of the teaser trailer for “The Hangover Part II”. The third teaser continues the trend with the timely Green Lantern parody, focuses Kermit, the greenest Muppet. The hilariously riffs on the teaser trailer for David Fincher’s highly anticipated adaptation of “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” consider the best of all. And this final parody promo is taking aim at “Paranormal Activity 3,” “Puss In Boots”, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” and “Happy Feet Two”.
