COMES A BRIGHT DAY is a romantic thriller written and directed by Simon Aboud. It marks debut feature of Aboud, who takes the helm on his own original screenplay. The cast lead by the Craig Roberts, breakout star of “Submarine,” along with Imogen Poots, breakout star from “Fright Night” and “28 Weeks Later.” Kevin McKidd (Grey’s Anatomy, Rome) and Timothy Spall (Harry Potter, Secrets & Lies) also star in the film.
Premiered at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year, the film is a mix of genres; a darkly comic thriller, involving a romance set within a heist and is a story about searching for the hidden gems that make life infinitely richer.
Sam Smith (Roberts), a bright, ambitious and handsome bellboy at a five star hotel has big dreams of one day running his own restaurant. On a seemingly ordinary day, he suddenly finds himself in a life or death hostage situation with the radiantly beautiful Mary (Poots) and her belligerent elderly boss Charlie (Spall) while running an errand at a one of London’s most exclusive jewelers. Against the backdrop of an armed jewel robbery that goes badly wrong, hostages Sam and Mary, flung together by deadly circumstance, discover their true feelings for each other.
