FRANKENWEENIE is an upcoming 3D black-and-white stop motion-animated film, directed by Tim Burton, and it is a remake of the Burton’s 1984 short film of the same name. The screenplay was written by Burton’s long time collaborator, John August (Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride). The film will be the first stop-motion film to be released in IMAX 3D.
The voice cast including Catherine O’Hara, Winona Ryder, Martin Landau, and Martin Short, who previously worked with the director. Like the 1984 version, it is a parody of and a homage to the 1931 film Frankenstein based on Mary Shelley’s book of the same name. In the film, a boy named Victor (voiced by Charlie Tahan) loses his dog and uses the power of science to bring it back to life.
From Comic-Con 2012, the new “Homage” trailer served as a tribute to the classic horror films that inspired Burton to make his film.
