LIFE OF PI is an upcoming 3D adventure film based on the 2001 novel of the same name by Yann Martel. The film is directed by Ang Lee (李安) based on an adapted screenplay by David Magee (Finding Neverland).

Suraj Sharma is making his acting debut as the eponymous Pi, supported by Tabu (The Namesake), Irrfan Khan (The Amazing Spider-Man), Adil Hussain (Agent Vinod), and Gérard Depardieu (Mesrine).

In September 2012, it was announced that Lee had cut Tobey Maguire from the film to opt for an entirely international cast. Lee described Maguire’s presence as ‘too jarringly recognizable’, reshooting the scenes with Rafe Spall in the interviewer role of Yann Martel.

The film tells the story of an Indian boy named Pi, a zookeeper’s son who finds himself in the company of a hyena, zebra, orangutan, and a Bengal tiger after a shipwreck sets them adrift in the Pacific Ocean.
