ADORE (previously known as Two Mothers) is an upcoming Australian drama film directed by Anne Fontaine, based on a short story by British writer Doris Lessing called The Grandmothers. Premiered at 2013 Sundance Film Festival, the controversial film starring Robin Wright and Naomi Watts.
It tells the story of two grandmothers, Roz (Wright) and Lil (Watts), best friends since girlhood who were lovers to each other’s teenage sons (played by “Twilight” star Xavier Samuel and “Animal Kingdom” actor James Frecheville), until their early 30s. The women’s resolve to end the affairs and see their sons married off but the boys resist.
