WHAT IF is a romantic comedy film directed by Michael Dowse (It’s All Gone Pete Tong, Goon, Take Me Home Tonight) and scripted by Elan Mastai (Alone in the Dark). The screenplay is based on T. J. Dawe and Michael Rinaldi’s play Cigars and Toothpaste. It was initially released as The F Word at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival for its world premiere.
Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Zoe Kazan, Adam Driver, Rafe Spall, Megan Park, Mackenzie Davis, and Oona Chaplin, the film tells the story of medical school dropout Wallace (Radcliffe), who’s been repeatedly burned by bad relationships. So while everyone around him, including his roommate Allan (Driver) seems to be finding the perfect partner (Davis), Wallace decides to put his love life on hold. It is then that he meets Chantry (Kazan) an animator who lives with her longtime boyfriend Ben (Spall). Wallace and Chantry form an instant connection, striking up a close friendship. Still, there is no denying the chemistry between them, leading the pair to wonder, what if the love of your life is actually your best friend?
