WINTER SLEEP (Turkish: Kış Uykusu) is a drama film which has been selected as the Turkey’s official submission for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards, and won the Palme d'Or and the FIPRESCI Prize at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. It is directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, who has twice received the festival’s second-place honor, the Grand Prix (for 2002’s Uzak and for 2011’s Once Upon a Time in Anatolia) and a directing prize for 2008’s Three Monkeys.

Aydin, a former actor, runs a small hotel in central Anatolia with his young wife Nihal with whom he has a stormy relationship and his sister Necla who is suffering from her recent divorce. In winter as the snow begins to fall, the hotel turns into a shelter but also an inescapable place that fuels their animosities...
