First Official Trailer for Jay Roach’s TRUMBO with Bryan Cranston, Diane Lane & Helen Mirren

TRUMBO is an upcoming biographical drama film directed by Jay Roach (Austin Powers films, Meet the Parents, Dinner for Schmucks, The Campaign) and written by John McNamara. Based on the biography of Hollywood screenwriter Dalton Trumbo by Bruce Alexander Cook, the film starring Bryan Cranston as titular character, alongside Helen Mirren who co-stars as Trumbo’s nemesis, columnist Hedda Hopper. Diane Lane, Elle Fanning, Louis C.K. and John Goodman also star. It has been selected to be shown in the Special Presentations section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival.

TRUMBO follows the successful career of 1940s screenwriter Dalton Trumbo (Cranston) comes to a crushing end when he and other Hollywood figures are blacklisted for their political beliefs. It tells the story of his fight against the U.S. government and studio bosses in a war over words and freedom, which entangled everyone in Hollywood from Hedda Hopper (Mirren) and John Wayne (David James Elliott) to Kirk Douglas (Dean O’Gorman) and Otto Preminger (Christian Berkel).
