LOUDER THAN BOMBS is a drama film directed by Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Trier (Oslo, August 31st), and co-written with Eskil Vogt (Blind). It stars Gabriel Byrne, Jesse Eisenberg, Isabelle Huppert, Devin Druid, Rachel Brosnahan, Ruby Jerins, Megan Ketch, with David Strathairn, and Amy Ryan. The film was competed for the Palme d’Or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, and has been selected to be shown in the Special Presentations section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival.
The story revolves around an upcoming exhibition celebrating photographer Isabelle Reed (Huppert) three years after her untimely death, brings her eldest son Jonah (Eisenberg) back to the family house – forcing him to spend more time with his father Gene (Byrne) and withdrawn younger brother Conrad (Druid) than he has in years. With the three of them under the same roof, Gene tries desperately to connect with his two sons, but they struggle to reconcile their feelings about the woman they remember so differently.
