HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE is a comedy film written and directed by New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi (Eagle vs Shark, Boy, What We Do in the Shadows). Based on the book Wild Pork and Watercress by Barry Crump, it is about a juvenile delinquent left in the care of rough yet loving foster parents who live off the wilds of the New Zealand bush. The hunt is on and they are wanted alive.
Premiered In Competition at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival to positive reviews, the film stars Sam Neill, Julian Dennison, Rima Te Wiata, Rhys Darby, Rachel House, Oscar Kightley, Tioreore Ngatai-Melbourne, Troy Kingi, Cohen Holloway, Stan Walker, Mike Minogue, Hamish Parkinson, Lloyd Scott and a ute called ‘Crumpy’.
