MANIFESTO is a multi-screen film installation written, produced and directed by German artist and filmmaker Julian Rosefeldt. It was premiered at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in 2015, and screened at the Berlin’s Museum für Gegenwart and New York City’s Park Avenue Armory in 2016-2017. A 90-minute feature version is premiering at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.
Can historic art manifestos apply to contemporary society? An homage to the 20th century’s most impassioned artistic statements, from Futurists and Dadaists to Pop Art, Fluxus, Lars von Trier and Jim Jarmusch, this series of reenactments - all performed by Cate Blanchett - explores these declarations’ performative components and political significance.
